So you people want an update. Is that it?

Well last Monday I got the bright idea to build myself a boat. The medium? Poster board. I had myself a set of plans and I proceeded to build myself a model of it. The real thing is 18' 9 3/4" long and the model is 27" so it is much more managable. That took four hours out of my evening and it ruined my chatting time. Amanda didn't care for that... and she was quite vocal about it as well. So then Tuesday night I decided to make a different one, that one being 21' long and it had a keel and a rudder along with a skeg. So another four hours, no chatting, and I had that one done. But I didn't like the looks of that one. I have another set of drawings for another boat, but it has a keel as well and I don't really like the looks of it. So I won't be doing that one.

Work seems to be all involving. It has gone into seven days a week now, and they all blur into each other. I tell you, it isn't very fun at all. Hopefully I can get it done and get some free time to myself at least for a few days before another big project comes along.

So next step for me and my little boat is to build a model out of fiberglass. I laid up a special panel just for it and I think it will turn out well. And there has been interest in me building one for someone too. So that is interesting. My back hurts still and I hurt my little toe today too but at least the nail didn't fall off. My little diesel engine is calling for me. It wants to be put in a boat badly. But I don't know when I will have time to do that particular project. Maybe next year sometime if I'm lucky. I also found a transmission for it. Circa 1918 ish. It is pretty neat, most people don't even know what it is by looking at it. At first I thought it just had forward, but after taking it apart and lubing it up with some marvel mystery oil I found out that not only does it have a clutch pack *for forward* but it also has a planetary gear set *for reverse* and it all spins. Yeppie yahoo for antiques. It is going to be quite the undertaking building this. Mainly because it is from scratch for the most part and I want to do it right. I have even entertained the thought of making a mould of it after I am done so I could lay some up and sell them. Either just the hulls or finish them out. But I don't know if there is a market here for them, and if so what people would pay. I don't think that I could sell them for less than $4,500 for just the bare hull and no less than $10,000 finished. Even if it IS a simple boat. I haven't come up with any color schemes yet, nor a name. But I do have a few of those boucing about in my head. Hmm, it seems that I have left my list of names somewhere so I cannot tell what they are. Perhaps another day.

I wanted to post some pictures in here of my creation, but I couldn't figure out a smooth way of doing it. So I fired up angelfire but couldn't remember my SN and PW so I had to make a new one. Then with that I tried to create another web page and hot link the pix here. But that didn't work out too well *stupid angelfire* so I created a photo album instead. Doesn't have much in it right now. Just the first model and some shots of the engine. I have some pix of the transmission on my fone... but I haven't taken the time to dl them yet.

I'm hella tired all the time it seems and there is no shortage of work. On top of all this like a huge cherry gloating with impending doom there is my web story/comic thing. That isn't working out too good either. I like to think that I am somewhat creative, if not very. But I do think that I try to make things harder on myself. Trying to get too much detail into mundane things. Plus I get distracted easily. Coming up with characters for my multiple storylines *I have about 5 that I can rattle off right now, but if I do that, then 10 more will spring up, etc etc* is harder than some might think. I spent some of yesterday *or was it the day before...* researching some character traits for a database to form them on. A story is only as good as what it contains. You can't just take random shit, throw it in a bag and beat it with a rat flail and hope for the best. Well... you CAN. But I don't recommend it.
